Marriage and Family Therapists
People come to therapy for many different reasons.  Perhaps you are having problems with a relationship that is important to you.  You may be stuck in an addictive cycle or a dead end job.  Maybe you feel you are held back in life by a lack of self-esteem, or a habit of uncontrolled anger, or you may feel overwhelmed without even knowing why.
As a cognitive-behavioral therapist, I help people bring about positive changes in their lives, through an exploration of their thoughts, behaviors, and feelings.  I act as a coach, helping clients in setting and achieving goals, developing insight into internal blocks, and overcoming them along the way.  In our first session, I will ask you a lot of questions about yourself, to help me understand what your concerns are, and why you are seeking counseling.  I will also give you a chance to ask any questions you may have about me, or about the therapy process, to help you feel more comfortable talking about personal issues.  Once we establish what your goals are for therapy, I may ask you to do "homework", such as reading a book, keeping a therapy journal, or monitoring your daily moods.

Marriage and Family Therapists     Since this will be your therapy, I am very open to any suggestions you may have on how to proceed.  Therapy is a very personal and enriching experience.  Many people come in looking for an answer to a specific problem, and find themselves engaged in a process of growth and change that enriches their lives in unexpected ways.  It takes courage to ask for help.
In the end, therapy is a gift you can give yourself.
